A Few Changes For Manifestos

Thank you to everybody for your thoughts, suggestions, questions, and feedback on our State of the Comm post so far! (By the way, that discussion is still open, so if you'd like to chime in, please do!). stars-inthe-sky and I have been discussing all of the feedback we've received, and we'll be making a couple changes and implementing some new things for het_reccers in the coming weeks/months.

First up: manifestos.

1. Working with a co-author on manifestos is allowed. If you would like to collaborate with somebody else on a manifesto, please do—the more the merrier!

2. Manifestos no longer require 10 recs. We will still have 10 rec slots as the default in our manifesto template, but that is no longer a required number. Rec as many (or as few) fics as you want to give your readers a peek into your fandom! Sometimes meeting a minimum (particularly if the fandom or ship is rare or one that's been recced heavily) can be difficult, and we want to make sure you can still post your manifestos regardless, with all their learn-all-about-my-awesome-fandom! and squee-about-my-otp! goodness.

3. Manifesto challenges will be returning at some point. While manifestos of any type can be posted at any time to het_reccers (and that will continue to be the case), some of us have benefited from the extra push and deadlines that the manifesto challenges used to provide in the past. With that in mind, we'll bring back manifesto challenges occasionally as a way to round up the community, get us all focused on a goal together, and help push some of those half-written manifestos we have sitting around past the finish line. There's not a set date for this yet, but stay tuned.

That should cover it for now—thanks, everybody! And feel free to manifesto away!
