Why This Must Be Read: An AU that repaints two familiar characters as "honest-to-goodness sociopaths" makes for one of the more strangely novel fic premises I've read in any fandom. The fact that many events turn out the same but with different motivations behind them makes the story unfold almost with a tone of dark humor. In its own way it is definitely a love story, if one about needing to be understood more than needing any tenderness.
