WIP?: no
Why This Must Be Read: This is a touching, honest look at how Amanda handles the reality of Pon Farr. It's a serious issue, which could potentially derail their relationship, and MaryStacy treats it with the gravity it deserves while giving us a wonderful picture of this unique couple. Sarek is perfectly in character: all Vulcan logic with enough emotion shining through that it's no wonder Amanda would want to spend her life with him. Amanda herself is a gem here. She's young but she's still very much the mature woman of canon, weighing her future happiness very carefully as she decides what to do with this new information.

WIP?: no, but the sequel is
Why This Must Be Read: Most long-time lovers of S/A know this story and it's definitely for the true lover of the ship. It's a long, plotty piece detailing Amanda's adolescence and her journey to becoming Sarek's wife. Sarek doesn't actually appear until the second half of the story but the ball gets rolling from the very start when Skon (Sarek's father) arranges the marriage. Amanda's father very reluctantly agrees and spends much of the story trying to dissolve the engagement before Amanda can find out about it. With all these forces subvertly pulling and pushing Amanda, she still manages to mature into a young woman with her own identity firmly intact.
There is an incomplete (probably always will be) sequel, Destiny's Promise, only available by joining the Sarek_and_Amanda yahoo group. I definitely recommend hunting it down.
*Edit (3/7/13): You can also find A Fragile Destiny here: http://archiveofourown.org/series/38811 Due to the nature of it being put on AO3 (part of a move/mirroring of the S/A archive) there's a chance it will be taken down at some point at the author's request but for now it's a much more user friendly version of the fic.
