Why This Must Be Read: I mostly read gen Supernatural fics, but I am a sucker for any fic about the Winchesters finding their own brand of normalcy. And in my opinion, few fics do it so well as those in
ficwriter1966 's Hope Verse. In the first story in the series, Snowfall, the boys find their way to the Adirondacks in New York to investigate a series of mysterious deaths that somehow seem to center around the Donahue family. The rest of the series picks up a few years later when Dean and Sam run into the Donahues once again, and, *cue dramatic music* their lives are forever after intertwined. No, but really, Snowfall is a fantastic casefic, and the Donahues are as believable and likable a group of OCs as you can possibly find. The series centers mostly around the relationship between Dean and the oldest Donahue daughter, Morgan, who is tough, no-nonsense, and flawed enough to never approach Mary Sue territory. I love that the Winchesters get a happy ending that's not so saccharine as to give you a toothache, but heart-warming enough to make you want more.
Make sure you carve out enough time to read it, though - Snowfall clocks in at around 72,000 words, and the rest of the series contains more than fifty fics. And if you're anything like me, once you start, you won't want to stop!
