Why This Must Be Read: Not only does this fic manage a neat little coffeeshop/bakery AU, it also manages a tidy balance of comics and onscreen canon. The romances herein are het and lovely—Jess and Clint are perfectly messy, and why is there not more Carol/Rhodey out there?—but the guys are mostly secondary to a lot of awesome ladies being awesome. And if you don't walk away from this wishing wholeheartedly for a canonical Kate Bishop-Melinda May team up, like, immediately...go back and read this again.

Three Jessica Jones recs, all Jessica Jones/Luke Cage

Jessica Jones is a dark, snarky heroine inhabiting a dangerous, violent world, locked in battle with monsters inside and out. She's just MADE for fic, particularly angsty, tear-your-heart out stuff. Three of the best so far:

Why This Must Be Read: An exquisite little fic that aches with perfect characterisation; Jessica's hard shell cracking a little in the face of Luke Cage, and how he gives her what she needs.

* Mods, could I have a fandom tag for Jessica Jones and a ship tag for Jessica Jones/Luke Cage please :D

Three Revolution epics, all Charlie Matheson/Bass Monroe.

Revolution had a big cast, big budget and big themes: it's no surprise it has spawned many novel-length stories exploring the social and political challenges of the Blackout world. Here are three epic fics set in the canon or post-canon world:

Why This Must Be Read: Revolution is a world which lends itself to epic fic, but this is the granddaddy of them all. Picking up immediately post Monroe's supposed execution, this doorstop of a fic luxuriates in all of the details of the post-Blackout world, domestic life with the Mathesons and their cadre, and the fight against enemies known and unknown. Superb.
