Why This Must Be Read: After I posted the other rec, I went hunting for more Carter/Sousa, and this fic is, I think, my favourite so far. It's Peggy with her daemon, the wolfhound Bader, being Peggy and therefore awesome, but also fighting to find her place in the world after WW2.

Normally I find the idea of adding daemons into whatever universe you're writing about a bit of a lazy shortcut, since daemons sort of give voice to inner feelings and thoughts. But it works brilliantly here, because the author's definitely not a lazy writer, and instead use daemons to make subtle remarks on prejudices as well as the more usual ouvertures on romance. This fic is the second in a series called Of Blood and Dust, but it can be read as a stand-alone (although I would recommend reading the sequel vouloir c'est pouvoir as well).

Why This Must Be Read: This is a post-season 2 story that really digs into what I'm pretty sure the show isn't going to touch. Namely, what might happen after the WARPAINDEATHRARRATINGS! bs that's likely gonna go up on screen is over. This story is about aftermath and about trauma and healing, and while, at it's core, it's a Clarke/Bellamy story, the author does a phenomenal job of telling separate stories in and around them, but also treating each point of view chapter/character with respect due them and their own stories. There's an emotional weight to this story that is lovely and made me savor each chapter as it was released.
