Het Big Bang Recs: 3 Recs (Chuck, Community, & Original)

I am still working my way through 2015's collection of fantastic works, so I've only got one 2015 rec so far but I also brought two 2013 recs that haven't yet been rec'd (the others I want to post have been already! :D)

From Het Big Bang 2015:

Fandom: Original Work
Pairing: OMC/OFC
Title: The Prince's Most Loyal
Author: Alley_Skywalker
Link: http://archiveofourown.org/collections/Het_Big_Little_Bang_Challenge_2015/works/4665903
Rating/Warning(s): T / PG-13
Word Count/WIP?: 28,514 (complete)
Recced on LiveJournal By: red_b_rackham

Why This Must Be Read: I don't normally go for original fic nor for historical fic, but this caught me by surprise in a great way. I gave it a try and fell for it easily and quickly, getting caught up in a story about a man mucking his way through political intrigue while falling in love with his (dead) best friend's girl. The characters feel real right out of the gate and the writing is really lovely.

Mod Post: Getting ready for TROPE BINGO!

October is an important month for this community—it’s when het-reccers was founded seven years ago and relaunched one year ago with your new/current mods!

To celebrate, we’re throwing a party in the form of TROPE BINGO with a reccing twist. Starting on October 1, reccers can sign up to receive a bingo card and spend the whole month posting great het fics that feature fandom tropes like fake dating, sex pollen, de-aging, and more. Rec five in a row on your card and—BINGO!—you’ll be entered in a drawing (with multiple winners) to have a podfic made of the het story of your choice. If you’ve got more than five trope-tastic recs, keep ‘em coming…you get another entry for every bingo you complete!

We’ll provide more logistical details about Trope Bingo on October 1, but in the meantime, we need your help to make the game as fun as possible.

First, we need tropes to fill out the cards! Comment on this post with your favorite tropes—serious, ridiculous, crackish, romantic—anything goes. We’ll assemble all of the results and generate bingo cards for all the reccers who want to participate. (If you’re on Tumblr, we’ll accept comments on this post as well as askbox messages!)

Second, we need podficcers to help give as many Trope Bingo winners as possible a chance at getting to hear their favorite story read aloud. We won’t ask you to podfic any content you’re not comfortable with, and we request only that you can commit to recording one fic by the end of this calendar year. All levels of experience are welcome—you just need an AO3 account (we’ll put the finished podfics in a collection there), a clear speaking voice, and a can-do attitude! Again, just comment on this post or send us an ask with a valid email address if you’re interested—we’re also happy to answer questions if you’re interested but unsure.

We’re psyched to see what tropes you guys come up with—and even more excited to see what recs you’ve got for them! So start brainstorming and collecting your faves, and we’ll see you in October!
