Potausu, by ArjetLuna (PG-13)

Fandom Category: Star Trek (2009)
Pairing: Original Female Character/James T. Kirk
Fic Title: Potausu
Author: ArjetLuna
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13 | character deaths (not main characters)
Genre: Adventure, AU, drama, romance
WIP?: Yes

Why This Must Be Read: I don't often rec WIPs, preferring to wait until they're finished so people can have the full experience at once, but on this occasion? I just can't help myself. This story is AMAZING. The ship is slow-building, and fits well into the many different subplots that the author has going on. There is so much happening, and it all comes together so incredibly well! An incredible story, one that should be read many times over and then given a rave review so that the author will know how well-liked it is and be encouraged in her writing. *shoos* Go go go!

"Spring Break, Sidekick Style" by Perri Smith (G)

Fandom Category: Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Pairing: background Buffy Summers/Angel, one-sided Buffy Summers/Xander Harris
Fic Title: Spring Break, Sidekick Style
Author: Perri Smith
Rating/Warning(s): None
Genre: Casefic, humor
WIP?: No

Why This Must Be Read:  Okay, it may be cheating to call this a het rec, but I've posted just about everything else in my Buffyverse repertoire to this community already, and I really wanted to contribute to this challenge. In this oldie-but-goodie, Xander and Angel fight very tiny but loud demon-types while the Slayer (and Willow and Giles) are out of town. Perri Smith treats both characters--and their feelings for Buffy--with respect. They may never really like one another, but you can see why they did both make good sidekicks for Buffy, and how they might have connected, however reluctantly--and not just regarding their shared affection for the Chosen One.

Mods, there's not a Buffy/Xander tag, but I don't knoe that there's really the fic for it anyway.
DISNEY: Cinderella - Once Upon a Dream

Free Falling by summerstorm (M)

Fandom Category: Everwood
Pairing: Hannah Rogers/Bright Abbott
Fic Title: Free Falling
Author: summerstorm
Rating/Warning(s): M; mentions of sex
Genre: Romance, Schmoop
WIP?: No

Special Rec: 10/21

Why This Must Be Read: This is a beautiful and insightful look at the Hannah and Bright relationship, showing the inner tension she feels regarding the newness of their physical intimacy as well as demonstrating Bright’s utter patience, lust, and affection.

The eyes and the silliness, she has no trouble with — if she did, she wouldn't be able to stand Bright at all, and she loves him, she really does, and that's the problem.

Sometimes, Bright will suddenly pause when they're making out, look at her, smile seriously, and tell her that she's beautiful. That makes the butterflies in her stomach really happy, because she's not, but if Bright really thinks she is — well, that's more than enough for her.

"You shouldn't tell lies," she says sometimes, with a small smile on her face.

"I hope you're talking to yourself," he replies. "Do you need me to bring out the mirror?"
