Changing Lives by CSIGeekFan

All right, 10 recs in less than four hours for 10 different pairings? Self-created challenge accepted, self. My apologies for the spam. I'll try to space them out a little at least.

Fandom Category: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Wendy Simms/David Hodges
Fic Title: Changing Lives
Author: CSIGeekFan
Link: Chapter 1
Rating/Warning(s): K+
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Romance
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 12/20

Why This Must Be Read: I joined this fic about ten chapters in, and waited eagerly for the last seven. When Hodges sister and her husband die in a car accident, Hodges takes custody of their two children, and it's the story of how he and Wendy grow closer because of that. It's full of ups and downs and sadness and hope, and the realness of it is what really strikes you. She creates an intriguing backstory for Hodges, and although sometimes the characters waver in their in-characterness, this can mostly be attributed to the extreme situation in the fic, and she generally does an excellent job of taking the characters we know and love from the show and transporting them into this world.

Also, to decrease the spam, I'm going to go back and add an Andy Wyatt/Toby Ziegler fic and a Jed Bartlett/Abbey Bartlett fic to my earlier West Wing post and another Discworld rec to the Discworld post, so as to decrease the spam a little.

sex is like Chinese food by gidget_zb

Fandom Category: Doctor Who
Pairing: River Song/Eleventh Doctor
Fic Title: sex is like Chinese food
Author: gidget_zb
Link: sex is like Chinese food
Rating/Warning(s): T, intoxicated Doctor, mentions of sex
Genre: Romance
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 17/20

Why This Must Be Read: Gidget is one of the best River/Eleven authors out there. Her fics are sweet and sexy and them and they are always a joy to read. I think this one is my favorite, and not just because of drunk!Doctor. I just love the premise, that The Doctor is crossing his own timeline to see her again, to give her the last kiss she deserves to bring her biscuits, to show her he loves her in the way only he can. And their banter is pitch-perfect, sweet and very funny.

compasses point north, i only point to you by cartography

Fandom: Leverage
Pairing: Sophie Devereaux/Nathan Ford
Title: compasses point north, i only point to you
Author: cartography
Link: Fic right over here
Rating/Warnings: T
Genre: Romance
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 18/20

Why This Must Be Read: This author just gets how messed up and tangled up with each other Nate and Sophie are. She gets their relationship so well, and writes it so well. And the language and prose of her stories are amazing as well, which just adds to the rec. I love how she spans almost the whole timeline of their relationship as well.

Harry Potter, 2 recs, Tonks/Remus and Luna/Neville

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Luna Lovegood/Neville Longbottom
Title: The Age of Not Believing
Author: romanticalgirl
Link: The Age of Not Believing
Rating/Warnings: K+, off screen minor character death
Genre: Romance, Angst
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 19/20

Why This Must Be Read: Post war fic that really captures the spirit of both of these characters. It deals with Neville's feelings about being a hero and about his parents. I just love how it's a serious fic, but Luna is still Luna. I really love the ending especially.

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Nymphadora Tonks/Remus Lupin
Title: Damn
Author: Tierfal
Link: Damn
Rating/Warnings: K+
Genre: Romance, Angst, songfic
WIP?: No
Special Rec: 20/20

Why This Must Be Read: This is by far one of my favorite fics ever written, and definitely my favorite Remus/Tonks fic. I think it's partly because of how closely this Remus matches my personal characterization of Remus: shy, a little unsure and a tiny bit bewildered by everything at times, has stood up and suffered tragedy after tragedy and comes out on the other side again and just keeps going, dealing with the loss of his best friend the only way he knows how, by continuing on. And her Tonks is loud and fun but also caring, and how she brings them together in such a believable, honest, touching way is great, injecting it with humor and angst and backstory along the way. You won't believe she could pack it all into a single oneshot. The fact that it is a songfic based around Damn by Matchbox 20? That just makes it a gazillion times better for me. It's been saved for last because it's the best. In fact, I think I'm off to read it again.
