Punctuated Equilibria by Bite-or-Avoid

The one-year anniversary of the comm seems a uniquely appropriate date on which to post a rec, so here goes:

Fandom Category: Bones
Pairing: Temperance Brennan/Seeley Booth
Fic Title: Punctuated Equilibria
Author: Bite-or-Avoid
Link: http://bite-or-avoid.livejournal.com/1175.html
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13
Genre: Romance/Drama
WIP?: No

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the most intimate non-explicit stories I think I've ever read. bite_or_avoid does a beautiful job of showing us the push and pull of Booth and Brennan's relationship and the way they work so hard to control the brewing "something" between them until it boils over and becomes something else altogether.

Part 3
Part 4

Hearts From Iron, Minds From Steel by pathstotread (NC-17)

Fandom Category: Star Trek (Reboot)
Pairing: Leonard McCoy/Christine Chapel
Fic Title: Hearts From Iron, Minds From Steel
Author: pathstotread
Link: http://pathstotread.livejournal.com/534675.html
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17
Genre: Angst, Drama, Romance
WIP?: No

Why This Must Be Read: It shows what a real honest-to-God fight between two people that love each other looks like. Both Christine and McCoy are partly to blame for the fall out of their relationship, and the author does a great job of putting them back together again.

The X-Files, 5 recs, various pairings

On the off chance that there are other people on this comm who enjoy pairings *other* than Mulder/Scully on The X-Files, I thought I'd throw out a few of my favorite unconventional pairing fics. :-) For the die-hard MSR fans, though? I'd *still* say give these a try. Some of them don't even involve Mulder or Scully at all, and those that do are *very* respectful of the MSR 'ship.

This doesn't cover all the non-MSR pairings out there by a long shot, or even all the fanfic out there for these (well, except possibly in one or two cases... *g*) but they are my favorite stories for some of my favorite pairings. :-) Hope those of you who decide to give them a chance enjoy them as much as I do.
