In Your Head by Captain Peregrine (PG-13)
Fandom Category: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: Rodney McKay/Elizabeth Weir
Fic Title: In Your Head
Author: Captain Peregrine
Link: http://archive.mcweir.com/viewstory.php?sid=243
Rating/Warning: PG13
Genre: AU, episode related, character study, h/c, angst
WIP?: no
Why this must be read:
Rodney looked up at her in surprise and Elizabeth’s heart almost shattered when she saw the look in his eyes. There was surprise, yes, but there was also hope, longing, fear, uncertainty… Rodney’s eyes were always so full of emotion, but she seemed to be the only one who ever noticed.
An AU of Duet, involving Rodney and Elizabeth, rather than Rodney and Laura. The real Duet was a fairly comical episode, but this version is a lot more emotional and serious, mostly due to the existing relationship between Rodney and Elizabeth, although there are some funny moments. The character voices are wonderful, especially as Elizabeth comes to realise what their relationship really means to her. Rodney is at his absolute worst but being in Elizabeth's head gives him a new perspective on this and as such he tries to back away completely, but Elizabeth will not lose him. Radek is probably the best supporting character here, and look out for the brief reference to Radek/Katie, which I suddenly find intriguing :P
