Why This Must Be Read: Writing Elizabeth/David can be complicated, because in many ways David is her enemy; he's the author of her pain, the reason why everything went down the way it did. irrelevant manages to balance that anger with Elizabeth's loneliness and tells a story of connection, of connecting in the deep, dark spaces of the soul.

Heart rate is increasing, pupils expanding. Her pulse disrupts a controls pathway you cannot identify quickly enough to bypass.
