Why This Must Be Read: I confessed to the author on reading this that sometimes, I simply cannot face another word of X-Files angst. This, in the wake of Home Again, could have ripped my heart out, but instead chose to offer "the Houdini of emotional escape acts." Heartwarming, lovely smut, built around the incredibly intimate knowledge these two characters have of each other.

Why This Must Be Read: This was inspired by a poem and reads like poetry, stylistically deft with a glorious rhythm. Mulder and Scully think about each other and their lives together.

Why This Must Be Read: These two Revival-era stories are so intimately interwoven they need to be read in succession for full satisfaction. In the first, Dana is exploring her scars with a new lover, Mulder ever-present in her mind. In the second, she flees a nightmare, and has to stop running from her old life. Sad, elegant and perfectly characterised.
