Multifandom, 5 Recs, Various pairings
Fandom: The Borgias
Pairing: Lucrezia Borgia/Cesare Borgia
Title: gratia plena
Author: marketchippie
Link: AO3
Rating/Warning(s): Teen, Incest
Word Count/WIP?: 1499, complete
Recced on LiveJournal By: zantedesha
Special Rec: 8/31

Why This Must Be Read: Not-explicit, it's dragonfly-in-amber moment of Cesare, shortly before Lucrezia is married for the first time. The show itself was full of those *moments*, moments that balanced on the edge of is-it? Are-they...? Marketchippie's beautiful and graceful prose transcends these moments and become something wholly new.

Confessional booths 2.0. Ave Lucrezia. To my sister, full of grace.

Pairing: Lucrezia Borgia/Cesare Borgia
Title: Theatrical Studios!AU-series
Author: marketchippie

Put your hands on me
Sparkle and burn and take your time
sew up whatever you’ve done (tomorrow christmas day comes)
painless ghosts, of which she knows
you could do so much better (you said it in your letter)
Rating/Warning(s): Explicit, Incest
Word Count/WIP?: 18600-ish
Recced on LiveJournal By: zantedesha
Special Rec: 9/31

Why This Must Be Read: Six fic for the price of one! In this series of fics, marketchippie has re-imagined the Borgia-family as a modern theater family; almost mob-like, savage, fierce, broken and beautiful. And making Lucrezia and Cesare speak lines from Shakespeare's most famous works is inspired.

Fandom: The Mentalist
Pairing: Teresa Lisbon/Patrick Jane
Title: Color is its own reward
Author: pene
Link: AO3
Rating/Warning(s): Mature
Word Count/WIP?: 16482, complete
Recced on LiveJournal By: zantedesha
Special Rec: 10/31

Why This Must Be Read: God, I loved those two. However, I wasn't too fond of the Red John denoument. Color is its own reward fixes the resolution of Red John to perfection for me - and gives me one of my favourite detective-tropes (main characters has to pretend to be in love and during said pretense find the courage to actually give into those feelings) as well!

Fandom: Gossip Girl
Pairing: Blair Waldorf/Dan Humphrey
Title: I tell you all the time
Author: little_giddy
Link: AO3
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13
Word Count/WIP?: 13313, complete
Recced on LiveJournal By: zantedesha
Special Rec: 11/31

Why This Must Be Read: I gave up on Gossip Girl in disgust halfway through the final season. But when I run into a well-written Blair/Dan fic, I remember that rush of right-ness I felt when those two came together. This two parter sets off right after Blair skips out of her own wedding, and it's just full of all those things that made them so good together. Quips galore!

Fandom: The Man from U.N.C.L.E
Pairing: Gaby Teller/Illya Kuryakin
Title: ‘cause after all he’s just a man
Author: spacenarwhal
Link: AO3
Rating/Warning(s): PG, post-cannon
Word Count/WIP?: 2688, complete
Recced on LiveJournal By: zantedesha
Special Rec: 12/31

Why This Must Be Read: The last one for today is a short and sweet one - but with enough bite to stay true to the characters.

“I could be yours, then.” He says, uncertainty so clearly defined in his voice it pains him to hear it, a kind of truce that feels like unconditional surrender. “If you’d like.”

Stupid question: does the Mentalist story spoil much of the rest of the show? I only watched the first three seasons and may still watch the rest at some point. But I'm not going to pass on a good Teresa/Jane story, so I thought I'd better ask. :D

Thanks for the recs!

There's a bit about Van Pelt/Rigsby, but the story basically goes AU in the middle of season four, so you should be safe :)

(the show became something quite different as it got older, but I still think season four and five are worth a look. And s06 ep 16 for an amazing Lisbon/Jane story ;))

Thank you! I'll definitely read the story, then!
